Smith Shirt in Camo Wool

The Smith shirt has versatility and functionality in its relaxed, boxy fit. Wear as an overshirt in place of a light jacket or under outerwear as an added layer of warmth. Its spread collar can be worn up or down to shield from the elements or as a style feature. Hand carved horn buttons complement the design with a specially designed front chest pocket.

We collaborated with a unique handloom weaving cooperative in a Himalayan mountainside village in Northern India where wool weaving has been practiced for over 5,000 years. The merino wool comes from Australia and its yarn is spun and dyed in West Bengal and then woven in Northern India. The facilities where the yarn and fabric is woven are Woolmark certified. Learn more about our wool weavers here.

The process of making this fabric is very special and very time consuming. The weaver determimes the weaving pattern based on our design direction. Each time the thread changes they stop the loom and add new thread and continue to weave until that thread is woven into the design and the process is repeated. It takes six hours to only weave approximately half a yard.
